How can we embrace whole life wellbeing approach to reverse disease or infertility?

If you’re interested in the prevention or reversal of chronic conditions or in supporting your reproductive health, listen to my Brave New Girls podcast guest this week, Liberty Mills, an Integrative Nutritionist & Health Coach. Liberty overcame lupus, a chronic autoimmune condition, and became a mum to her second daughter at the age of 45.

Liberty shares her journey of overcoming chronic disease and infertility through integrative nutrition and wellbeing practices. She demonstrates how much of our health lies within our own hands, especially with the support of integrative health professionals.

Liberty’s Journey: From Autoimmune Disease to Motherhood

Liberty’s life was turned upside down in her 30s when she was diagnosed with lupus. Her body became her battleground, facing skin lesions, hair loss, joint pain, and debilitating anxiety. At one point, she relied on disability aids, her life spiraling into physical and emotional chaos. Doctors told her there was no cure. Despite the grim prognosis, Liberty refused to accept this as her reality.

Her turning point came when she decided to take ownership of her health. By diving into books, consulting alternative health practitioners, and experimenting with holistic practices, she began to reclaim her life. Within months, she reduced her inflammation, improved her blood markers, and gradually weaned herself off medications. Her transformation culminated in walking 147 miles for charity—an achievement that symbolized her victory over lupus.

In her 40s, Liberty faced another challenge: unexplained infertility. At 43, she was told her chances of conceiving were slim. Undeterred, she adapted her holistic health practices to optimize her reproductive health. By making targeted dietary changes, reducing stress, and integrating acupuncture, she conceived naturally and gave birth at 45.

Liberty’s Work Today

Liberty now dedicates her life to helping others regain their health and vitality. She focuses on reducing inflammation, optimizing gut health, and addressing chronic conditions like fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and infertility. Her approach is highly individualized, recognizing that one person’s medicine may be another’s poison.

Brave New Girl- How to Be Fearless.

Ten Actionable Steps for Reproductive Health and Whole-Body Wellbeing

  1. Reduce Inflammation
Incorporate anti-inflammatory foods like turmeric, ginger, and leafy greens into your diet. Limit refined sugars and processed foods.

  2. Heal Your Gut
Add bone broth, fermented foods, and prebiotics to support gut health, which is essential for hormone regulation and immunity.

  3. Switch to Clean Products
Replace toxic household cleaners, candles, and cosmetics with low-toxin alternatives. Look for phthalate- and paraben-free options.

  4. Hydrate with Filtered Water
Invest in a water filter to minimize exposure to harmful chemicals like chlorine and heavy metals.

  5. Regulate Your Nervous System
Practice deep breathing, meditation, or yoga to reduce stress and balance your hormones.

  6. Optimize Nutrition
Prioritize protein, healthy fats, and nutrient-dense meals. Aim for balanced macronutrients in every meal to stabilize blood sugar.

  7. Detox Your Environment
Reduce exposure to environmental toxins by avoiding processed foods, using natural cleaning agents, and minimizing plastic use.

  8. Exercise for Strength and Calm
Replace high-intensity cardio with strength training, swimming, or Pilates to reduce physical stress and support reproductive health.

  9. Prioritize Sleep
Go to bed at the same time each night, eliminate blue light exposure before bed, and create a calming nighttime routine.

  10. Work with Professionals
Seek guidance from integrative nutritionists, acupuncturists, or functional medicine practitioners to tailor strategies to your needs.

Holistic practices can help you reverse chronic conditions and boost reproductive health, as shared by Liberty Mills on the Brave New Girls podcast.
